Summer Season Automotive Tips
The summer season is upon us once again. Follow some of these simple tips to answer some common questions.

Battery Life
Excessive heat and overcharging shorten the life of a battery. Heat causes battery fluid to evaporate, which then damages the internal structure of the battery. A malfunctioning component in the charging system allows too high a charging rate, which will eventually destroy a battery. To get the most life out of a battery, the council recommends having the electrical system checked to make sure it is charging at the correct rate Keep the top of the battery clean. Dirt can become a conductor, which drains battery power. If corrosion accumulates on battery terminals, it becomes an insulator and inhibits the current flow. (completecarrepair.net)
Tire Pressures
Always check your tire pressure when the tires are cold. After driving (especially in high heat) the pressure in your tires can increase by as much as 5 psi or more. It is important to fill your tires when they are cold to avoid over inflation. An over inflated tire can be just as hazardous as an under inflated tire. It is best to fill your tires to the manufactures specifications, which are usually located on a sticker inside the drivers door jam.
